Listen up SODers, we’ve got some super exciting news for you today.
We have been invited to New Designers 2017 and we’ll be presenting an associate award this year!
You can find us at the event on Thursday 29th June where we will present the New Designers Students of Design Associate Prize to one lucky winner, who will have the exciting opportunity to work with us here at SODS.
We will present the associate award for the designer who has created the most exciting, innovative and commercial project. We’ll be judging the designers on a combination of solid and evidence based research, functionality, innovation and uniqueness.

We’ve visited this fabulous event for the past two years, and found it to be a goldmine of talent. We currently work with two incredibly gifted designers who we met at the show last year.
One is Rebecca Chan, who creates gorgeous tables for the home. We currently have a gorgeous wooden circular coffee table available in our marketplace, along with a similar matching side table too.
The second is Charlotte Kay, who designs beautifully ornate and original lamps which are wonderful works of art to decorate any room with.
This year, we’re particularly excited to meet Scotland based children’s wear designer Maija Talvikki, who is behind the label Alma Borealis.
She designs innovative, textural and visually stimulating knitted fabrics for children aged 2-6 (and for grown-ups with an adventurous mind!). She also strives to use local and sustainable materials in her products, including Blue Face Leicester and Scottish Borders Alpaca yarns which are super soft and durable, with minimum miles behind them.
As always, we’ll be on the hunt for fresh and upcoming design talent at New Designers.
So keep your eyes peeled for us on the 29th, and don’t forget to tag us in your posts across social media on the day using #newsods.
We’ll see you there!
